I know we had at least 5 folks that said they wanted to get together and celebrate in the Twin Cities area. I'm all for this idea, and I'm hoping you guys will help me brainstorm.

I know Borders has some count-down festivities, and we'd probably be at the Borders on University in St. Paul. They've (and all other Borders for that matter) got wizard games, costume contests, spelling bees, etc. running until midnight. We could (and would have to) hit that up because I am picking up my book and then reading through the night, y'all. Ain't no stoppin' me.

However, I'm wondering...

Now trust me, I'm not going to go off the deep end. We didn't last time, we didn't get in trouble, and the only casualty was a cell phone and that was just bad luck.

Okay. Hit me!

Do it up! Depending on the number of folks I might be able to arrange something. worthyopponent and I are planning on participating in some sort of gathering either in Minneapolis or Omaha, if that helps you at all in your decision making. In Minneapolis we would be able to accomodate a few visitors even, methinks.

Also, new layout thanks to grrliz's mad CSS skillz. It looks like chocolate. *chomp*

I saw this link of cult_sbp and I was like, wait there are other people around me that love this too?! So I had to join. I personally find myself in the upper midwest, Minnesota actually. I found shoebox through a friend from california, so I just assumed that no one around me had caught onto this amazing fic!

Hello all! It's your friendly, neighborhood mod here!

I'm just writing because I'd like to revive this community a bit. It's a bit outdated, and no meet-ups have really been suggested since last summer. I would like to iterate that anyone can suggest a meet-up at any time. Don't be shy!

In other news, I'm going to be giving the community a make-over soon. I'm looking for shoebox custom layouts, and if any of you know of any, let me know! Otherwise, I'll see if I can't whore myself out go some graphics people and get one goin', and hope to the sweet, and hopefully merciful Gods that my coding skills are up to par.

Sorry if people are getting this on their f-lists twice, as I posted over in the cult just awhile ago, but...

Ex-mod of the community here. We were going to hold a HP RP thing over in Toronto, which is why I quit as the mod, but now it's suddenly and quite inexplicably moved to Minnesota. Mall of America to be exact. So, I just thought I'd make a quick announcement here. :)

The post is here!

As you may or may not know, aewmorn has resigned as the mod of this community. I will be taking over, and am very very excited!

So! There are some new things...

1. I redid the layout. Hee! It's shoebox-ified like whoa.
2. The user info has been updated as well. faithlynn and I geeked out the interests, they might bring you joy.
3. E-mail has been changed along with moderator, but the one in the user info is most definitely correct.
4. As counting up the votes would get really tedious, especially once more people join, etc... I have converted the "Where shall we meet" into a poll! :) Please put in your vote. There are check boxes, so if more than one works for you feel free to check several. Also, if there's another city that I've forgotten, there's a text entry option too. :)
5. Wheeeeee!!! *flail*

Another suggestion?

Imagine

Hello to all fellow Shoeboxers that live in the Midwestern-ish area!

I know that the summer is still very far away (especially considering the weather we’re experiencing at the moment… brrrr.), but I like to get a head start on things, so ... I've decided to start this community up.  This is a community for the planning of a meet-up sometime either in late spring (?) or during the summer, and somewhere in the Midwest.  I don’t think the actual detailed planning will start until … the snow melts, at least.

Anyways, I know that some of us were discussing either meeting in Chicago or in Minneapolis.  Any other place suggestions?  Or comments on how easy it is for people to get to certain places?  (I live in Wisconsin, but I'm sure that I could make it to anywhere within a reasonable distance.  Carpooling wouldn't be a bad idea, either.)  We could at least get the place set now, and then bother about the logistics later.  (Like … the exact number of people that are coming, what day we're meeting, which building we’re going to overrun, if we’re staying in hotels or not...)  I'd also like to get an approximate time frame set.  School ends in late May for me, and I'll be working afterwards, but I think I can easily make it to a weekend meet-up in the summer.

So, comments are appreciated!

Be sure to keep watch on this community.  I'll post sporadically to remind people that it still exists, and I'll post the link to the cult once in awhile as well, so that we can gather as many people as possible!

I'm so excited about this.  :D
