Hello to all fellow Shoeboxers that live in the Midwestern-ish area!

I know that the summer is still very far away (especially considering the weather we’re experiencing at the moment… brrrr.), but I like to get a head start on things, so ... I've decided to start this community up.  This is a community for the planning of a meet-up sometime either in late spring (?) or during the summer, and somewhere in the Midwest.  I don’t think the actual detailed planning will start until … the snow melts, at least.

Anyways, I know that some of us were discussing either meeting in Chicago or in Minneapolis.  Any other place suggestions?  Or comments on how easy it is for people to get to certain places?  (I live in Wisconsin, but I'm sure that I could make it to anywhere within a reasonable distance.  Carpooling wouldn't be a bad idea, either.)  We could at least get the place set now, and then bother about the logistics later.  (Like … the exact number of people that are coming, what day we're meeting, which building we’re going to overrun, if we’re staying in hotels or not...)  I'd also like to get an approximate time frame set.  School ends in late May for me, and I'll be working afterwards, but I think I can easily make it to a weekend meet-up in the summer.

So, comments are appreciated!

Be sure to keep watch on this community.  I'll post sporadically to remind people that it still exists, and I'll post the link to the cult once in awhile as well, so that we can gather as many people as possible!

I'm so excited about this.  :D

I work for St. Vincent Ferrer in River Forest. Popular church for weddings.

Yay for getting out of suburbia. I'm trapped there too, but I'm only 10 short blocks (you know, the short part of the rectangle that is a block) away from Chicago, so only a little bit.
